Will the release of new consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation affect the video game industry? The answer to that question is a big “maybe”. For one thing, new games are always coming out, which means more possible profit for game developers. If game developers can gain popularity through the means of a new game, they stand to make much more money. This may mean that Nintendo and Sony will once again be the best selling game console brands in a few months time.
Game consoles are usually quite expensive, even if the game disks don’t break the bank. If you’re planning on buying a new console in the next few years, then you’d better start saving money now. In the next two years, we’ll probably see an increase in video games sold for PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Sony may also introduce a new X-Box during that period of time.
Xbox, however, already has more than one hundred game titles. If Microsoft can beat Wii and Nintendo in the race to become the most popular gaming console, the Xbox could very well end up being the top seller. However, with Xbox, Microsoft might have underestimated its competition. There are rumors that the game discs are becoming a problem, especially with older players who play the games a lot and discs made available by competitors aren’t compatible with older games.
In the next few years, it is expected that PlayStation and Xbox will be battling it out. Sony already has the edge when it comes to software and gaming capabilities. The game developers want to create games that run smoothly using the most current technology, and they know that only Microsoft can provide them with that. With the introduction of the X-Box, the battle will be on, and who knows which company will emerge victorious?
Both companies have created gaming consoles that are easy to use and operate. They both have great online support and community features. Xbox uses the X-Box Live network whereas PlayStation uses the PlayStation Network. These networks will likely be competing with each other in the next few years. We should also expect more open games and a greater selection of games available.

In December, they will be releasing their next flagship game console, the PlayStation 5. This new design will consist of many of the features of the previous models and upgrades for future generations as well. I’m expecting many more great announcements coming from Sony in the next year or two about gaming console and handheld devices.
Microsoft has not yet announced a concrete release date for their new console. But according to the media, it will be released during the holiday season. The Xbox One will launch with five price options, the entry level one, the mid-level two, the top notch three, and the ultimate four. Each of these options is priced at about a hundred and sixty US dollars, or about seven hundred and three hundred British pounds, or about one hundred and sixty Euros. The PlayStation 4 will launch with similar prices, but with millions of more units.
Both consoles are expected to run on the same hardware, but there are many differences between the two. The PlayStation 4 is rumoured to have a much faster processor, higher disc drive space, and better graphics. Although this is unconfirmed, it is highly likely that the PlayStation 4 will launch ahead of the Xbox One in the next few months and could surpass the Xbox within a few weeks of it’s release. Nintendo has not yet revealed any information regarding the release of the new Nintendo Wii, or what they are hoping to achieve with the upcoming Nintendo Wii’s disc drive.
